Following an extensive international recruitment process, Beach Energy (BPT) has appointed Morné Engelbrecht as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.

He will be paid a salary of $1.27 million, with short and long term incentives on offer based on performance goals.

The search process was conducted by the company’s Board of Directors and external advisors, with Mr Engelbrecht believed to be the best candidate to execute development programs and the next phase of growth.

Mr Engelbrecht has over 20 years’ experience in the oil, gas, and resource industry. He has spent the last six years in the role of Chief Financial Officer within the company.

He stepped up as Acting CEO in November and has successfully overseen capital programs in the offshore Otway Basin and Perth Basin.

“Morné has clearly demonstrated his leadership capabilities over many years
with Beach and his credentials are ideally suited for continuing the delivery of our strategy,” Chairman Glenn Davis said.

Shares were trading 5.44 per cent lower today at $1.61 each at 10:42 am AEST.
