Boab Metals (BML) has completed a metallurgical test work program at Sorby Hills, finding separate flotation of oxidised and fresh ore delivers a better uplift in metal recovery.
The materials stock has been carrying out the tests as part of the wider Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) on the Sorby Hills silver-lead asset, which is located in WA’s Kimberley region.
Around 1.4 tonnes of core from a recent drill program was utilised for testwork including Flotation, Comminution, Mineralogy, Heavy Liquid Separation, Tailings Thickening,
Concentrate Filtration and Concentrate analysis.
BML confirmed separate flotation of the ore deliver significant uplift in metal recovery compared to a blended ore treatment.
In particular, fresh ore results include recoveries of up to 95 per cent lead and 87 per cent silver, while oxidised ore returned recoveries of 90 per cent ore and 92 per cent silver.
Boab Managing Director and CEO Simon Noon said the results will form the pasis of the upcoming process plant design for Sorby Hill’s Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS).
“The metallurgical testwork program represents a substantive body of work that, together with the results of extensive previous testwork, will form a sound basis for our DFS process plant design criteria at Sorby Hills,” he said.
“We are pleased with the results we have achieved. The recovery uplift resulting from separated ore versus blended ore processing is particularly encouraging and we anticipate adopting this approach will have a positive impact on the project economics.
“With the DFS metallurgical testwork program largely complete, we are now able to advance process plant design at pace.”
Boab Metals shares were trading up 2.86 per cent at 36 cents each at 11:39 am AEDT.
