BrainChip (BRN) has announced the early availability of its second silicon-ready reference design, the AKD1500.

The AKD1500 is built on GlobalFoundries’ advanced 22nm FD-SOI technology, continuing to advance neuromorphic computing.

The company has confirmed that this release demonstrates the portability of its Akida IP across multiple foundries and underscores its ease of integration and implementation.

BrainChip proudly positions itself as the world’s first commercial producer of neuromorphic AI IP.

The AKD1500 chips are slated to be available in limited quantities in the upcoming quarter, catering to AIoT applications in industrial, consumer, and automotive solutions.

In tandem with this announcement, BrainChip has also released its half-yearly results for the six months ending on June 30.

Notably, the company reported revenue of US$115,606. However, total expenses saw a 30 per cent increase to$16.85 million, resulting in doubled losses amounting to $17.15 million.

“While the results are clearly not acceptable, they were anticipated,” BRN CEO Sean Hehir said.

“Our commitment to releasing this market-leading product in the shortest time possible drove an increase in labour cost over the same period last year.”

BRN shares were down nearly 10 per cent, trading at 29.5 cents at midday AEST.
