Caeneus Minerals (CAD) has been granted the Roberts Hill exploration licence (E47/3846) in the Mallina Basin of the Pilbara region in Western Australia.
Additionally, an application for the Mt Berghaus exploration licence (E45/5041), has progressed to final government approval and the company expects to be granted the licence in the near future.
The granted E47/3846 covers a 170 square kilometre area and the pending E45/5041 covers an area of 179 square kilometres — collectively, these licences give Caeneus a further 349 square kilometres to explore.
Whilst Roberts Hill and Mt Berghaus are situated within the highly prospective Mallina Basin, the projects haven’t seen significant soil sampling or historical drilling. This may be due to the thick alluvial sand cover.
However, Caeneus’ early studies on geophysical and Landsat imagery indicate that both licences contain locations with striking similarities to the De Grey Mining’s (DEG) Hemi, Mt Berghaus, Mallina and Shaggy gold prospects.
“With the granting of Roberts Hill and Mt Berghaus now imminent, the company now has a strong footprint in the highly prospective Mallina Shear Zone as well as the Sholl Shear Zone at our nearby Yule River project,” Chairman Peter Christie said.
Over the next month, the company plans to conduct preliminary field investigations at Roberts Hill and Mt Berghaus to help design a field activities program.
CEO appointment
To support the exploration activities across its projects, Caeneus Minerals has appointed Rob Mosig as CEO.
“For the company to be able to attract an executive of the calibre of Rob with his outstanding track record of success is a reflection of the quality and potential of the Mallina Province Projects,” Peter stated.
Rob is a geologist and brings over 30 years’ of experience in gold, platinum, diamond and specialty metals to the role. He was previously the founding Managing Director of Helix Resources (HLX) and Platina Resources (PGM).
Company shares have soared 33.3 per cent and are trading for 0.6 cents each at 12:35 pm AEST.
