Castle Minerals (CDT) has identified new anomalies at its Great Southern graphite project in Western Australia.

A low-impact, orientation loupe ground electromagnetic survey was completed across the Kendenup and Martagallup licences, and outlined eight high-priority anomalies for follow-up investigation.

At Kendenup, the anomalies were seen to follow an east-west trend coincident with the stratigraphy in the area and directly on strike with the known occurrence of the historical Kendenup graphite mine.

At Martagallup, the survey was carried out over a graphite occurrence close to a conductive small salt lake and found four single point late-time anomalies.

Castle said the results from the survey work reinforces the company’s view that there is “considerably” more graphite mineralisation to be discovered in the area.

As the project licences are situated on freehold farmland, CDT is progressing the required land access agreements with individual private landowners before the Department of Mine, Industry Regulation and Safety will grant surface exploration rights.

Exploration is also subject to a heritage agreement being entered into and heritage surveys being completed as required under Native Title, which CDT said is being progressed through a specialist contractor.

The loupe survey instrumentation was trialled for its low-impact capability, and given the results, the company plans to extend coverage across more areas of interest where landholder access can be obtained.

Company shares were up 5.77 per cent to trade at 2.8 cents as of 11:24 am AEST.
