Chalice Mining (CHN) has unearthed a new mineralised intrusion at its Julimar nickel-copper-platinum group element project in Western Australia, roughly 70km northeast of Perth.

Step-out drilling at the Gonnneville deposit intersected a new shallow zone of high-grade sulphide mineralisation. The mineralisation occurred within a newly identified, narrow ultramafic unit.

Results included 3 metres at 2 grams per tonne (g/t) palladium, 0.3g/t platinum, 0.6 per cent nickel, 0.5 per cent copper, 0.05 per cent cobalt.

The company said the discovery is significant because it confirms there are other mineralised intrusions in the area that have no electromagnetic response.

Meanwhile, Chalice has been continuing step-out and infill drilling at the Gonneville deposit, with six rigs on the go. 225 diamond drill holes and 460 reverse circulation drill holes have been drilled for roughly 180,000 metres at the project.

New assay results have been received for 129 holes, which were not included in the Gonneville maiden mineral resource estimate.

Chalice Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Alex Dorsch, said extensional drilling has intersected a new shallow zone of sulphide mineralisation, which is interpreted to be the potential southern extent of a new Hartog zone.

“The moderate nickel, copper and cobalt grades observed are considered particularly encouraging,” Mr Dorsch said.

“After lengthy consultation with the WA State Government, we believe our low-impact approach to initial drilling in the State Forest is close to being approved. We have received positive feedback on our approach to minimising disturbance and we are eagerly awaiting final approvals for drilling to commence at this exciting new frontier.”

Step-out drilling is scheduled to continue on the area, with the focus shifting to extend the high-grade resource.

Chalice Mining last traded on December 1.
