ChemX Materials (ASX:CMX) has announced it’s commenced commissioning a pilot plant producing High Purity Alumina in WA just north of Fremantle.

The company is producing HPA with its registered ‘HiPurA’ tech.

The asset being commissioned on Friday is the leach circuit part of the process; the plant is intended to produce up to 24 tonnes of HPA per year once its fully operational (all cards in order.)

“The leach circuit is a key part of ChemX’s unique flowsheet and comprises the first part of the patented, HiPurA purification process,” the company wrote on Friday.

“It takes the aluminous chemical feedstock and sufficiently upgrades its purity for the solvent extraction (SX) stage.”

Company chief Peter Lee further elaborated.

“As with any project integration, key work scopes require careful planning and the HiPurA HPA Pilot Plant is on track to achieve operational readiness toward the end of the next quarter,” Lee stated.

HPA is a listed critical mineral by the Australian government.

CMX shares were up 2.13% to 4.8cps.
