HotCopper this week is pleased to announce a new video segment for investors across our platforms, it’s Chris Judd’s ‘Talk Ya Book’.
While Chris Judd is likely still better known for his high-profile football career, having captained both the West Coast Eagles and Carlton, along the way he’d been investing, and that’s since led him down another career path.
“I was a passionate stock investor throughout my footy career and then was lucky to land a role as an analyst with a venture capital fund post-footy,” he said.
He launched a finance media content creation play, Chris Judd Invest, and then founded the Cerutty Macro Fund last year.
“It (finance) is certainly a lot more sedentary than playing professional sport, but there are some patterns you learn. The outliers in football are the teams that are doing something different, and you see those patterns emerge through different businesses.”
Chris Judd said outliers were those taking different views to consensus views.
“That is something we really try to emulate in Cerutty,” he said.
“The great thing about funds management is that there’s a really clear scoreboard and that scoreboard doesn’t lie.
“Over time you know if our results are good enough then trust will be gained.”

“Hopefully they can learn from some of the fund managers we get to speak to week-in and week-out and pick up some tips on building out their own investor framework going forward to help them have better success on markets.”
