Cokal (CKA) has progressed road construction at the Bumi Barito Mineral (BBM) coal mine pits in Indonesia.

In March, the company announced repairs for the access road to the project’s coal mine pits. Equipment was moved to the site to begin the process.

The road measures 98 kilometres, with 52 kilometres already in use and at full operational status. The remaining 46 kilometres represent the access road that Cokal has been working to build or repair.

Road repairs continued at the project, despite it being the month of Ramadan, but the days were shorter to accommodate the daily fasting rituals.

Access to the road has reached the Toloh River at 62.3 kilometres and have cleared beyond the river to 64 kilometres. The bridge over Toloh River must now be constructed to allow maintain ongoing support with fuel and logs.

From May 12 to 17, fieldwork stopped due to heavy rain that hit the area.

BBM is a high-quality metallurgical coal project in the Central Province, Kalimantan and is Cokal’s most advanced project.

Now, Cokal will now mobilise a grader and compactor to form the road and drainage profile.

On the market this afternoon, Cokal is down 1.64 per cent and is trading at 6 cents per share at 2:54 pm AEST.
