Kalium Lakes (KLL) has commissioned gas supply infrastructure at its Beyondie Sulphate of Potash Project (SOP) in Western Australia.
The infrastructure is the first major commission at the project and will introduce gas all the way to the delivery station near Beyondie’s SOP processing facility.
Additionally, Kalium is also nearing completion of commissioning activities for the site’s power station and expects to begin load testing ahead of schedule in early April.
As commissioning continues to accelerate at Beyondie, the miner has now on-boarded and transitioned key technical personnel to site-based roles.
This team includes senior ebtec specialists who are on site preparing for the SOP purification plant commissioning, with the subsequent ramp-up expected to facilitate Kalium’s initial 100 kilo-tonnes per annum production target.
In fact, since 2019, more than 87,000 tonnes equivalent of SOP has been pumped from Beyondie’s bore field and trenches into primary evaporation ponds.
Importantly, Kalium says potassium salts at the site have now grown to harvest cut thickness of at least 300 millimetres — sufficient to provide necessary feed for commissioning and subsequent ramp-up at the plant. Harvesting is set to begin in May.
Kalium Lakes CEO Rudolph van Niekerk said entering the commissioning phase at Beyondie represents a major milestone for the company.
“Several commissioning activities are underway, including the gas supply infrastructure and on-site power station,” Rudolph said.
“The pace of activity at the project continues to increase rapidly as we transition from construction to start up of operations,” the CEO added.
Kalium is on track to deliver commercial production and the first SOP sales out of Beyondie in September.
