Prospect Resources’ (ASX:PSC) first metallurgical testwork on transition and low-grade fresh mineralisation from the Kabikupa deposit has been a major success, with independent testwork at the Mumbezhi Copper Project in northwest Zambia yielding high-grade copper concentrates with strong recoveries.

The metallurgical testing, which was run by Core Metallurgy in Brisbane, Queensland, utilised composite samples from a dedicated drill hole, KKMT001.

The transition zone composite achieved a copper concentrate grade of 31.9% copper at a 94.7% Cu recovery. Additionally, the low-grade fresh zone composite achieved a concentrate grade of 25.0% Cu, at a 94.3% Cu recovery.

Notably, both results were achieved using a simple flowsheet which was made up of a single cleaning stage. This processing path is consistent with the flowsheet used in the past for other Mumbezhi materials, including the Nyungu Central fresh and transition zones, and the high-grade fresh material at Kabikupa.

Prospect’s managing director and CEO, Sam Hosack, said these results “reinforce our conviction in the strong economic potential of the Mumbezhi project.”

“The Mumbezhi deposits continue to demonstrate their amenability to an established, conventional and simple processing flowsheet delivering attractive recoveries and excellent concentrate product quality,” he explained today.

“The straightforward nature of processing, combined with the coarse primary grind size and [the] previous opportunity for significant gold and cobalt by-product revenues, is a robust technical and financial lever for Mumbezhi.”

Mr Hosack noted these datasets will now underpin the completion of a project Scoping Study, scheduled for fourth quarter CY26, or first quarter CY27.

Concurrent Phase Three drilling is underway at the site, targeting further resource growth within the “Nyungu Hub” alongside regional targets. Initial assays from that drilling will return in coming weeks.

PSC will open at 29.5cps today.
