  • Maiden 20-hole RC program to commence at Wembley gold prospect
  • Holes to be drilled beneath historic Wembley workings
  • Program will also test interpreted Wembley regional structure
  • Drilling expected to be completed by the end of this month

Corazon Mining (ASX:CZN) is set to test the historic Wembley gold mine with the commencement of a maiden reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Feather Cap project in WA.

The 2,000m, 20-hole RC program is Corazon’s first systematic drilling at Feather Cap and is designed to test the continuity and geometry of known gold mineralisation at Wembley.

Drilling is focused on extensions beneath and along strike from the historic workings, as well as the broader regional Wembley structural corridor.

The Wembley mine produced approximately 1,050 ounces of gold from 1,510 tonnes between 1926 and 1935, confirming high-grade gold within the project area.

MD, Simon Coyle, said the program follows a detailed review of the Feather Cap historical exploration data with drilling representing an important step in systematically validating historical mineralisation.

“The commencement of drilling at Wembley is an important milestone for Corazon and the Feather Cap gold project,” he said.

“Our technical review has identified a compelling combination of shallow, high-grade historical gold results and a broader structural setting that remains significantly under-tested. We are not drilling simply to confirm what is already known. We are drilling to find out how big this is, and whether those high-grade hits are isolated pods or the surface expression of a much larger, structurally controlled system.

“The historical results provide an excellent starting point, with multiple high-grade intersections at shallow depths. What excites us is the opportunity to test the extensions of this mineralisation along strike and at depth, as well as the broader Wembley structure which has received limited systematic drilling.

“Feather Cap gives Corazon a third Western Australian gold growth platform alongside Two Pools and Chalice, and Wembley is the first of several targets we intend to test. Positive results would provide a strong platform for follow- up drilling and future resource definition, while the broader Feather Cap landholding provides substantial additional exploration upside.”

Feather Cap covers approximately 154 sq. km and is strategically located close to Westgold Resources’ Fortnum operations.

CZN was steady at 9.4c with a Mkt cap of $21.4M prior to markets opening.
