The Watchlist — short video interviews with ASX leaders. Watch now.

Anax Metals (ASX: ANX) was a high-flyer after it revealed high-grade results from the initial four holes from a 5,000m program at Mons Cupri deposit within the Whim Creek copper-zinc project in Western Australia.

“These outstanding results including intercepts of 85.9m at 2.89% CuEq and 62.54m at 2.95% CuEq, with high-grade zones of more than 8% CuEq starting from just 34.60m downhole, confirm that near-surface, high-grade mineralisation is a defining feature of Mons Cupri,” MD, Geoff Laing, said.

“Importantly, this is the material scheduled to be mined in the early stages of the restart plan, which underpins strong early cashflow. We look forward to the DHEM crew mobilising to site later this month, while we continue to focus on finalising project funding and advancing the FEED workstreams as we move towards FID.”

Anax was up 26.5% to 4.3¢.

Synertec Corporation (ASX: SOP) was popular with HotCopper followers after it released as upgrade to its FY27 revenue guidance.

The upgraded forecasts reflected strong contract conversion, increased revenue visibility and continued momentum across both the Engineering and Powerhouse businesses secured since the company’s FY26 full year results announcement, including the recently announced $45.5 million ANSTO Nuclear Medicine Manufacturing Program contract.

“We are pleased to upgrade our FY27 revenue guidance following strong contract conversion and operational momentum across both our Engineering and Powerhouse businesses. The ANSTO contract is a significant milestone; however, the upgraded outlook reflects a broader strengthening of the business, with increased revenue visibility across multiple projects and customers,” MD, Michael Carroll, said.

“The successful conversion of ANSTO validates the quality of our Engineering pipeline and provides confidence in our ability to convert further opportunities into long-term revenue. This upgrade also reflects the benefits of our industry diversification, geographic expansion and continued investment in Powerhouse.”

SOP was up18.3% to 11.0c.

AIC Mines (ASX: A1M) jumped on news it has entered into binding agreements to acquire a 100% interest in Materra Metals, owner of the Mt Cuthbert copper project for $120 million.

The company has also entered into a subscription agreement with existing major shareholder Hawke’s Point Resource Finance and its affiliates to subscribe for $70 million of new fully paid ordinary shares to fund the cash component of the acquisition consideration and accelerate exploration, resource drilling and development studies at Mt Cuthbert.

“The acquisition of Mt Cuthbert is a significant step forward in fulfilling our ambition to be a multi-mine mid-tier Australian copper and gold miner,” MD, Aaron Colleran, said.

“We have reviewed almost all of the advanced-stage copper opportunities in the Mt Isa – Cloncurry region over the last five years, and Mt Cuthbert is by far the best opportunity we have seen due to its established resource base, strong exploration upside, and the strategic fit alongside our existing operations. The Mt Cuthbert acquisition provides AIC Mines with a clear pathway to becoming a multi-asset copper producer in the globally significant Mt Isa – Cloncurry region.”

A1M jumped 13.5% to 90.3¢.

Looking wider, the S&P/ASX 200 was up just 0.60 points today to 8,758.40. Over the last five days the index has gained 0.71% but is virtually unchanged year to date.

Elsewhere, only 53% of housing investors will pay more tax under the Federal Government’s housing tax reforms and 43% will pay less, new research by the e61 Institute has estimated.

The reforms passed in June replace the 50% capital gains tax discount with an inflation deduction, introduce a minimum 30% capital gains tax rate, and delay when investors can deduct negative gearing losses until sale.

The analysis of 920,000 housing investments between 2008 and 2025 estimates that capital gains tax changes would have benefited the majority of investors, lowering CGT for 54% of investments and increasing it for 42%.

Meanwhile, the negative gearing changes pull in the other direction, lowering rental income tax for 28% of investors and increasing it for 49%.
