Domino’s Pizza (DMP) Japan has hit a sizzling new milestone, operating stores in each of Japan’s 47 prefectures.

With the fresh opening of Domino’s Japan’s 862nd store, the first in the Shimane region, Domino’s Japan has now become the first pizza company with a foothold in every Japanese prefecture.

The pizza chain said it is on track to achieve its 2000-store milestone by 2033.

“Less than three years ago we operated 550 stores and were not present in more than 10 prefectures,” Group CEO and Managing Director, Don Meij said.

“We highlighted that our business model at the time did not allow us to reach some of these territories – that has now changed.

“By taking care to understand how to access more customers, to offer value to families and individuals on more occasions, and how we make and distribute our ingredients – we have unlocked tens of millions of new customers, now served through almost 900 stores.”

The company said its main takeaway is that new openings mean it can serve more people a hot, freshly prepared meal, safely and quickly due to being closer to their homes.

Domino’s Pizza Enterprise dropped 1.86 per cent, trading at $122.33 at 2:55 pm AEDT.
