Dreadnought Resources (ASX:DRE) has added shallow ounces and grade within the known resource at Metzke’s Find area, part of its Illaara gold project in the Yilgarn region of Western Australia. The infill and extensional drilling at Metzke’s Find has also provided material for metallurgical testing work.

All these upgrades at Metzke’s Find, Dreadnought’s managing director Dean Tuck has declared, go a ways to helping the company expand Illaara.
“It is a key component of our ‘finding more gold, faster’ strategy and feeds directly into becoming a self-funded explorer,” he said. “Our high-grade Metzke’s Find resource is a great commercial opportunity.
The new drilling results from Metzke’s Find have successfully extended mineralisation from around 350 metres strike to approximately 600 metres.
That mineralisation growth, Mr Tuck said, is likely to reflect in an increase to the current resource. “Additionally, the identification of a parallel structure provides further desource expansion opportunities, which will be drilled in late February/early March,” the Dreadnought chief explained today.
“Confirming high-grade gold from 7m, which is outside and above the current tesource is exciting and highlights the opportunity to add shallow ounces through a systematic program like at Star of Mangaroon.”
The historic Metzke’s Find was discovered by a prospecting party in 1911, but its remote location and lack of readily available fresh water limited follow-up work. The area comprised around 20 small, historic shafts over 700m of strike.
The area was worked on a few occasions over the following decades for a recorded production of around 890 ounces at around 40 grams per tonne.
The only other significant exploration at Metzke’s Find occurred in the late 1980s and early 1990s by junior gold explorers who drilled shallow percussion holes, which recorded a number of attractive results.
The Illaara project covers 800sqkm and around 70km strike some 190kms from Kalgoorlie. The Illaara greenstone belt is considered one of the most underexplored greenstone belts in the Yilgarn Craton and is situated near Ora Banda Mining’s Davyhurst operations and Aurenne’s Bottle Creek operations.
DRE was steady at around 2.6cps through Tuesday.
