Element 25 (E25) has begun haulage ahead of the company’s first shipment of manganese concentrate from the WA-based Butcherbird Manganese Project to Port Hedland.

On June 8, under the terms of a letter of intent executed with AK Evans Group, trucks departed Butcherbird carrying the first manganese concentrate from the project.

E25 produced the material as part of its commissioning and ramp up of the company’s stage one processing plant, which is slated to produce a nominal 365,000 tonnes of high-quality manganese concentrate over a roughly 40-year mine life.

E25 will haul the remaining concentrate to make up a planned 27,000 tonnes of material in the coming days, ahead of loading the first ship of the manganese product in the last week of June.

Element 25 Managing Director Justin Brown said preparation of the maiden shipment was a milestone in the company’s fast-tracked project development.

“The successful commissioning and ramp up of this first stage of development provides a fantastic foundation from which to grow this business,” he said.

Looking ahead, the project team will now turn its focus to the next stages of E25’s multi-stage development strategy at the project.

The strategy comprises a stage two expansion of the company’s concentrate business, followed by a stage three development to convert the concentrate material into high-purity manganese sulphate monohydrate for electric vehicle batteries to power a global transition away from fossil fuel-powered mobility.

On the market on Wednesday, shares in Element 25 were down 1.8 per cent to $2.21 each at 12:18 pm AEST.
