Element 25 Ltd (ASX:E25) has scored a boost to its expansion plans, recording an increase of 107% in ore reserves at its Butcherbird manganese project in Western Australia.

It’s now set at 101.4 million tonnes (Mt) at 10.4% Mn for 10.54Mt contained manganese.

This added windfall is based on only two deposits – Yanneri Ridge and Coodamudgi – among eight deposits at the project, located in the Southern Pilbara region (130 kilometres south of Newman).

E25 has also increased the life of mine at Butcherbird to 18.3 years, for an annual production rate of 1.1Mt of manganese concentrate.

Butcherbird had previously been in production for three years until 2024 when E25 decided to temporarily suspend operations to enable the development of an expanded processing facility to increase mine production to the nominal figure cited above (1.1Mtpa).

The focus is now on selling manganese from the extended project into the manganese alloy market, in addition to supplying feedstock for E25’s planned high-purity manganese sulphate monohydrate (HPMSM) refinery in Louisiana.

The latter is being developed in partnership with General Motors LLC (GM) and Stellantis N.V. to supply low-carbon critical battery raw materials to the electric vehicles industry.

E25 last traded at 33 cents; a rise of 4.76% since the market opened.
