Empire Resources (ERL) has completed diamond drilling at its Yuinmery project in the Murchison district of Western Australia, reporting ‘excellent’ results from the Smiths Well prospect.

The company drilled five holes for a total of 1427 metres in order to test three priority targets prospective for copper-gold, copper-nickel-cobalt, and platinum group metals.

The results include 17.6 metres from the previously reported 30 metre intersection of massive sulphides at the Smiths Well prospect.

The 17.6 metres returned results of 0.7 per cent copper, 0.21 per cent nickel and 0.04 per cent cobalt from 286 metres.

This includes two metres at 1.79 per cent copper, 0.18 per cent nickel and 0.03 per cent cobalt from 287 metres and one metre at 1.09 per cent copper, 0.18 per cent nickel and 0.04 per cent cobalt from 294 metres.

Results from the remaining holes are expected in April and May.

The company will commence geophysical surveys soon in order to plan and target future drilling.

Managing Director Sean Richardson said he is pleased with the results.

“These diamond drilling results from Smiths Well are exceptional and reflects the potential for the Yuinmery Project to host economic multi-element mineral deposits to build on the existing Resource endowment,” he said.

“This diamond drilling program has returned the widest visual sulphide intercept seen at the Smiths Well prospect.”

“The priority assay results reported so far from within this sulphide interval demonstrates an improvement in copper-nickel-cobalt grade tenor with depth.”

Shares closed 10 per cent lower today at 0.9 cents each.
