Dalaroo Metals (ASX:DAL) has obtained significant high-grade gold rock chip samples in its first on-the-ground assessment of the Bondoukou project in Côte d’Ivoire.

The company only signed a binding agreement with Goldridge Resources to acquire an 80% interest in Bondoukou in late February, and initial due diligence work has returned assays of up to 17.95 grams per tonne gold.

Dalaroo’s CEO, John Morgan, said early observations have boosted the company’s belief that Bondoukou provides Dalaroo with exposure to a highly prospective gold project within the prolific Birimian greenstone belt of West Africa.

“These initial sampling results provide encouraging confirmation of high-grade gold mineralisation within quartz reef material exposed in the extensive artisanal workings at Bondoukou,” he explained.

The early-stage field work has identified widespread artisanal workings across the northern portion of the licence, offering important geological guidance for Dalaroo’s advanced exploration programs.

“These often represent the surface expression of structurally controlled gold systems that have potential to extend along strike and at depth,” Mr Morgan said.

He added: “Our immediate focus is on completing detailed geological mapping and geochemical sampling to better understand the structural controls and scale of the mineralised system. These programs will be critical in defining priority targets for our first phase of drilling at Bondoukou.”

Dalaroo has now mobilised its exploration team over in Africa, with plans to conduct systematic early-stage exploration aimed at defining drill targets.

Current work includes detailed geological mapping across the northern licence area, rock chip and geochemical sampling programs, structural interpretation of artisanal workings and target generation for initial drill programs.

The company’s Cote d’Ivoire country and exploration manager, Frank Twum-Berima Bosompem, said the Birimian gold belt in which Bondoukou is located hosts several significant gold deposits.

“These initial sampling results confirm the presence of gold within quartz reef systems exposed in the workings and provide important geological guidance for our ongoing exploration programs,” he said today.

The local chief continued: “While the sampling’s recon in nature, the high-grade assays to date are encouraging and support our interpretation of a structurally controlled mineralised system within the project area.”

DAL is heading into Monday at 5.9cps.
