EV Resources (ASX:EVR) has joined the ranks of former lithium companies moving into the antimony space with its pickup of the Milton Antimony Project in Nevada, putting the company on the map in the United States, where many ASX juniors have flocked this year.

Billed as a high-grade deposit and with historical production of some 30 tons of ore (at an average of 40% stibnite, antimony’s dominant host mineral), the market’s reaction has perhaps unsurprisingly seen the price rise +10%.

That market interest reflects broad-range investor enthusiasm for U.S.-based and critical-minerals-facing companies right now, given Trump’s clear supportive stance for extractive industries; it greatly helps, at least in terms of narrative, that EVR is now hunting for antimony, a metal that is needed in many cases for defence applications. (As this finance journalist often likes to point out, the defence thematic and the critical metals thematic have become inextricably married in our current era.)

At any rate, it mightn’t be historical production that the company is left focusing on for long. Fresh sampling of stockpiles on-site reflects grades up to 20.7%. Stibnite mineralisation is known to occur underground on-site in Triassic-era limestone, which the company reported on Friday may – and this remains to be seen – but that it may boast potential for gold, too.

Worth noting: EV Resources already has an antimony project in Mexico, the Los Lirios project, but the AMP puts EVR in North America proper with direct exposure to overhead U.S. government mineral exploration benefit programs, and perhaps most important of all, mere exposure to the #1 economy.

“The acquisition of Milton adds another high-grade U.S. antimony project to EVR’s portfolio at a time when demand for secure critical minerals supply is rapidly escalating … Alongside our recently acquired Dollar Project, Milton provides EVR with a strong U.S. footprint to complement our flagship Los Lirios project in Mexico,” EVR Chair Shane Menere said.

EVR last traded at 1.6cps.
