Evolution Energy Minerals (ASX:EV1) has defined a range of priority targets it plans to drill in May at its Chikundo copper project in southern Tanzania, reinterpreting airborne electromagnetic (VTEM) data to refine its geological model for copper mineralisation at Chikundo to identify four high-priority zones.

The explorer’s MD, Craig Moulton, said the work has uncovered high-priority target zones for follow-up exploration and significantly enhanced the company’s understanding of the geological controls on mineralisation. The study results will now be integrated with 1,500 pending soil samples to rank and finalise drill targets.
“This work represents an important step forward in our understanding of the Chikundo copper system,” Mr Moulton said today.
“Rather than targeting isolated geophysical anomalies, we now have a much clearer picture of the structural and geological controls on mineralisation, allowing us to focus on the most prospective parts of the system.
“With a substantial soil geochemistry dataset pending, we are well positioned to refine these targets further and progress to a disciplined, high-impact drilling.”
The new targets at the southern Tanzanian project have been refined based on the coincidence of multiple datasets, including geophysical signatures, interpreted geological contacts and structural features, existing copper soil anomalies and proximity to known copper occurrences and artisanal workings.
Evolution’s staged approach is intended to maximise the effectiveness of initial drilling by focusing on areas where multiple lines of evidence converge.
The reinterpretation indicates copper mineralisation at Chikundo is likely controlled by a combination of stratigraphy and structure, particularly along the contact between meta-basalts and adjacent meta-sedimentary units.
The highest-priority targets are located within the central Chikundo corridor, where there is the strongest overlap between favourable geological architecture and geochemical anomalism. Additional targets have been identified offset to the north along a similar trend, representing potential repetitions or extensions of the same prospective stratigraphic position for Evolution.
EV1 will open today at 1.1¢. Mkt cap $8.982M.
