As schools prepare for closures amid the COVID-19 outbreak, Family Zone (FZO) has offered free remote learning tools and support.
On Tuesday, the Australian Medical Association recommended that planning should commence for the potential closure of schools.
That same day, Family Zone offered any schools in Australia or New Zealand, forced to close due to the pandemic, access to its remote learning tools to help them fulfil their duty-of-care obligations and keep students focused. They will be able to use the tools up until the end of term two.
According to Managing Director Tim Levy, in just two days the company has received inquiries from around 40 schools in New Zealand and another 100 in Australia.
“We’re doing what we can to help in these uncertain times. We feel by taking away a significant cause of risk for schools and anxiety for parents we free the community to focus on the things most important to them,” Tim said.
“We think schools and parents must work together to keep kids safe and help develop them into cyber-savvy adults. This is what our services are all about. This principle has never been clearer than this moment. We parents, sons and daughters and are proud to be doing our bit,” he added.
The offer includes access to Family Zone’s cloud-based filtering service for school devices. This offer aims to assist schools with duty-of-care obligations for students using home networks while undertaking lessons remotely.
In addition, the chools will be able to access Classwize which enables teachers to see and control all screens in the class, to keep students on track.
Shares in Family Zone dipped 11.8 per cent today to close at 7.5 cents apiece.
