Firebird Metals (FRB) has completed the infill drilling program at its flagship Oakover manganese project in Western Australia.

Drilling began on October 13 with 89 holes, for 3000 metres, planned to extend the 10-year life-of-mine (LoM) at the Karen and Jay-Eye deposits by converting the inferred resources to the indicated category.

Currently, Karen and Jay-Eye have a combined inferred resource of 62.9 million tonnes.

Overall, 82 holes, for 2828 metres, were drilled with assays expected to be received in the next eight to 12 weeks.

Once received, Firebird will incorporate the results into an updated mineral resource estimate which it expects to release in Q1 2023.

The drilling team have done a tremendous job as we only kicked off the program a week ago,” Managing Director Peter Allen said.

“Assays are expected to be received in the next eight to 12 weeks and once we review and analyse the results, we will turn our attention to working on an updated mineral resource estimate to increase the current 10-year LoM at Oakover.”

Firebird was steady on the market with shares ending the day at 21 cents.
