Fresh soil sampling results confirmed several new gold zones at the Tole and Dadjan Gold Projects in Guinea, DeSoto Resources (ASX:DES) has today reported, as it prepares for its first-ever drilling program at the site.

At Tole, the explorer spotted a 2.3-kilometre-long zone of coherent gold in-soil anomalism in the northeast area, near where trenching is already underway.

Assay results from that site clocked in with several notable gold values, including more than 1,000 parts per billion gold from the top-grade “SS31166” sample – this “exceeded the reporting limit” and will be resubmitted soon.

The nearby Dadjan project had similarly “encouraging” results, including several gold assays recorded at 975ppb, 923ppb, 404ppb, and 254ppb.

These came alongside several new gold zones delineated to the north and south of Dadjan’s main zone; sampling at the same tenement also highlighted strong anomalism in the southwest, the company reported.

DeSoto said it was “pleased” with how the two projects’ hauls had come back. “Results confirm good continuity of mineralisation between the zones previously identified from rock chip and dump sampling,” the explorer wrote today.

Soil sampling and trenching continue at both projects as DeSoto prepares for its maiden drilling run. Two trenches have already been completed at Dadjan.

Further trailing results are still inbound too, HotCopper understands, with more Tole and Dadjan data now expected “in the coming weeks.”

Beyond this Tole and Dadjan focus, DeSoto is also continuing exploration at its broader 934 square kilometre Siguiri Basin landholding, including the Moiko, Oromo, Alamankono, Falama, and Dabidiana projects.

DES shares are at 21 cents each before Friday’s opening bell.
