Yandal Resources hits gold in first Flushing Meadows diamond core hole

• Yandal receives positive assay results from first diamond hole

Yandal Resources (ASX:YRL) has identified an opportunity for expanding the scale of the Flushing Meadows deposit in WA beyond the current 1.9km striking MRE with positive first results from drilling there.

The initial diamond hole has already confirmed gold mineralisation and will now help form a revised geological model at Flushing Meadows, located within the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee gold project.

Assays from that hole show several significant intercepts with the most significant results associated with heavily deformed and altered iron-rich sedimentary units proximal to felsic-to-intermediate porphyritic dykes.

Diamond drilling at Flushing Meadows is now complete, with further results from the remaining seven holes expected throughout July.

Meanwhile the first two lines of air-core drilling have been completed across the. broader Flushing Meadows and Giedi Prime target area with the first results also anticipated in July.

“These initial diamond drilling results provide the first clear picture of primary gold mineralisation within the Flushing Meadows mineralised system,” MD, Chris Oorschot, said.

“The results from diamond drilling will enable the geology team to define the key components and geometries of the mineral system. By modelling and extrapolating these components, we will be able to identify along-strike, at-depth, and sub-parallel exploration targets for further drilling beyond the 1.9km-striking shallow mineral resource.”

Mr Oorschot told shareholders drilling to date suggests the boundaries of the Flushing Meadows mineralised system have not been adequately defined.

“The ongoing air-core program combined with further results from the diamond drilling program should enable us to define the scale of the system and begin to build a more refined understanding of the exploration target and value of the deposit.”

Mr Oorschot said the early clarification of the primary mineralisation will enable the development of proximal exploration targets.

“Of particular interest is the potential for multiple sub-parallel iron-rich sedimentary units to be mineralised in the hanging wall (to the east) of the current 1.9km striking mineral resource estimate (MRE). “

He added that this concept has already received early validation following the 20m at 1.7g/t gold intercept from a RC pre-collar announced earlier this month.

YRL is steady at 21.0¢. Mkt cap $56.23M.
