Frontier Resources (FNT) has hit high-grade gold during a trench sampling and mapping program at the Kimono Central Vein in Papua New Guinea.
The results from second-phase sampling along the vein’s flexure zone saw one trench return an intercept of one metre at 148g/t gold and 413g/t silver within a broader zone of 15 metres at 13.89g/t gold and 46.7g/t silver.
The phase-two work included 15 hand-dug trenches between the Suwaitana and Gaiv creeks, totalling 232.5 metres and ranging from five to 41 metres in length.
The company collected 218 chip-panel samples from 10 trenches along the flexure segment, with the aim of defining drill targets for testing in term-two of the licence.
According to FNT, the recent program confirms the continuity of high-grade gold within a 360-metre flexure zone, where two drill targets — KC North and KC South — have now been identified.
Tassy Vein Trenching
Meanwhile, FNT completed five trenches along the Tassy Vein to follow-up “highly encouraging” results from previous phase-one sampling.
Trench mapping indicated two structural trends, including a strong west by northwest trend indicating a possible splay vein between the Kimono and Tassy veins.
The other, a north by northwest trend, was indicated by veins and structures, which FNT says could correlate with veining mapped and sampled in Suwaitana Creek.
Notably, the best trench result came in at five metres at 0.77g/t gold and 8.3g/t silver.

Looking ahead, ALS laboratories has completed the final assay results for 54 rock chip and grab samples collected at Kimono, with the results to be realised upon final interpretation.
Frontier is on track to mobilise to the Saki prospect on June 7 to continue its surface trench sampling program as part of JORC resource planning.
Frontier Resources shares have spiked 20 per cent to 1.8 cents at 11:50 am AEST.
