  • Gateway Mining (GML) encounters gold mineralisation during reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Kashmir target at its Gidgee project in Western Australia
  • Better drill intersections within the large-scale sheer zone include three metres grading 3.2 grams per tonne gold from seven metres and five metres at 1.7 g/t from 36 metres
  • The company says Kashmir is a 2.5-kilometre gold anomaly generated from soil sampling directly along strike from Horizon Gold’s (HRN) Howards gold deposit
  • Gateway says the RC results confirm the potential for significant mineralisation to be discovered along the under-explored eastern margin of the Montague Granodiorite Dome
  • GML shares are steady at 1.4 cents

Gateway Mining (GML) has intersected shallow gold mineralisation in initial wide-spaced reverse circulation (RC) drilling at its Kashmir prospect in Western Australia.

Kashmir forms part of the company’s 449,000-ounce, 1,000-square-kilometre Gidgee gold project in the state’s Murchison district.

Gateway described the Kashmir target as a 2.5 kilometre-long gold anomaly generated from soil sampling undertaken directly along the interpreted strike from Horizon Gold’s (HRN) 204,000-ounce Howards deposit.

The pick of the RC drill hits within the “large-scale shear zone” at Kashmir were three metres grading 3.2 grams per tonne gold from seven metres, five metres at 1.7 g/t from 36 metres and 15 metres at one g/t from 15 metres.

The company said the Kashmir gold mineralisation appears consistent to that encountered at Howards, with the controlling structure clearly identified on regional magnetic imaging.

Latest assays suggest the potential for significant mineralisation to be uncovered on the under-explored eastern margin of the Montague Granodiorite Dome, according to Gateway.

The company said the Kashmir results continue to build on the recent upgrade of its 449,000-ounce resource base and, together with the Julias-Flametree and Evermore-Whistler prospects, point to the large-scale potential of the Gidgee project.

Gateway Managing Director Mark Cossom said the Kashmir intersections were an exciting development.

“It’s coming hard on the heels of our recently announced mineral resource upgrade and a series of significant exploration results from around the wider Gidgee project towards the end of last year,” he said.

“These results clearly represent the immediate northern extension of the Howards gold deposit and, based on our interpretation of the magnetic and geochemical data, has real potential to extend at least 2.5 kilometres into our ground.”

Gateway said further RC drilling was earmarked for Kashmir during the current quarter.

GML shares were steady at 1.4 cents at 1:39 pm AEDT.
