Horizon Gold (HRN) has commenced a drilling program at the Altair and Mensa prospects within its Gum Creek gold project in the Mid-West region of Western Australia.

The program is an initial 2000 metres and includes reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drilling.

Geophysical and geochemical interpretation has highlighted the potential to define further altair volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) and sedimentary exhalative (SEDEX) mineralisation over five kilometres of untested strike.

Three holes have been planned at Mensa to intersect the strongest electromagnetic conductor plates that match with elevated magnetics and anomalous geochemistry.

While at Altair, two RC holes and one RC pre-collard diamond hole will test the strong gravity and conductivity highs at depth beneath and down plunge.

Once the drilling is complete, Horizon is planning to undertake a downhole electromagnetic survey to detect any late time off-hole conductive anomalies that may represent further drill targets.

On the market, Horizon was up 1.47 per cent and trading at 34.5 cents per share at market close.
