Microsoft education partner Janison Education Group (JAN) has teamed up with Cambridge Assessment to deliver placement tests to selective schools.

The five-year agreement will be finalised this month and will see Janison deliver approximately 30,000 high-stakes tests to high-performing Year Four students in NSW.

Janison will work alongside Cambridge, which is one of the world’s highest-regarded accreditation bodies, to create the tests. For the first time, these tests will be run digitally.

Cambridge Assessment was established by the University of Cambridge in 1858. It designs and provides assessments to more than eight million candidates in over 170 countries.

The contract is valued at a minimum of $1.3 million in revenue over the five years, with an additional $500,000 on the line depending on the number of tests delivered.

The company could also see a further $1.5 million if the NSW Department of Education chooses to use Janison Test services in regional and remote areas.

It says the Australian-based company platform, Janision Insights, has been trusted by governments and educators around the globe.

“The platform will give Cambridge Assessment the functionality to incorporate state-of-the-art assessment strategies to author test questions, as well as deliver the tests and analyse results from a deep data set,” the company said.

Digital questions will allow examiners to set more detailed difficulty levels, which will showcase the skills of high-performing students.

This new online test will also broaden the NSW Department of Education’s capability to equal the playing field and assess the ability of students from a diverse range of backgrounds including gender, social, cultural, language, geographical and disability.

Janisons’s application, Janison Replay, will allow students to do the test without interruptions such as the quality of the internet.

Chief Operating Officer Derek Welsh is pleased with the partnership.

“Janison is delighted to be partnering with such a globally recognised education leader as Cambridge Assessment. We see this project as another exciting example of fast-tracking digital education transformation by adopting world-class assessment practice,” he said.

On the market today, Janison is up four per cent and is selling shares for 26 cents each at 1:35pm AEST.
