Lodestar Minerals (LSR) has applied for an additional exploration tenement near its Earaheedy-Imbin project northeast of Wiluna, Western Australia.

The tenement is five kilometres long zone and includes historic rock chip samples to a maximum of 690 parts per million (ppm) copper, 868ppm lead and 1800ppm zinc.

No follow-up drilling has been done on the tenement since its discovery in 2000.

Nearby, Rumble Resources (RTR) has recently seen exploration success in the discovery of zinc-lead-silver mineralisation, which Lodestar said has indicated that the Earaheedy Basin has the potential to become a major base metal metallogenic province.

Lodestar’s Earaheedy-Imbin project, located on the active northern margin of the Earaheedy Basin 70 kilometres north-east of Rumble’s project, has recently expanded with the addition of application E69/4030 covering 56 square kilometres over historic zinc-lead and copper anomalies identified by Jubilee Gold Mines NL and other companies.

The Salvation Fault, which separates the Earaheedy Basin from the later Bangemall Basin to the north, is next to E69/4030. The Salvation Fault is a significant structure that was identified as a potential growth fault and feeder for sediment-hosted base metal mineralisation.

Since commencing exploration in 2021 at the project, Lodestar has found a number of anomalies that are subject to geochemical sampling, surface electromagnetic and initial reverse circulation drilling. These work programs are currently awaiting heritage approval.

Last week, the company announced it was set to launch a new program of surface exploration at its Coolgardie West Project.

The program aims to confirm a significant, two-kilometre-long soil lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) soil anomaly.

Lodestar will execute first-pass multi-element geochemical sampling, covering broad regions under shallow sand cover, upon tenement award to establish an initial framework for exploration targeting.

On the market, Lodestar was up 4.17 per cent and is trading at 1.3 cents per share at 11:25 am AEDT.
