Los Cerros (LCL) has confirmed three porphyry targets at its Chuscal target, which is part of the Quinchia Gold Project in Colombia.

The targets were outlined in a short-hole drilling program aimed to refine and filter porphyry targets ahead of porphyry drilling, provide a better understanding of local structures controlling the distribution of mineralisation, and to explore for strike and depth extensions of near-surface, vein-hosted epithermal gold.

While assays from one drill hole are yet to be received, the company has reported encouraging assays from the other two. These include six metres at 2.32g/t gold from 114 metres including 0.6 metres at 15.2g/t gold and 58.7g/t silver from 116 metres, and 5.2 metres at 5.44g/t gold from 54 metres including 0.5 metres at 38.1g/t gold and 74.1g/t silver from 57.9 metres.

These results build on previous results which include two metres at 6.44g/t gold and 87.4g/t silver from 324 metres.

Los Cerros has also confirmed three porphyry targets which it has dubbed the Corporacion, Guayacanes, and Fathom targets.

“Emerging from this short hole program are refined priority targets which will
be the focus of our ‘porphyry hunting’ drill program which is off to a good start with hole CHDDH009 intercepting potassic alteration within an early diorite,” Managing Director Jason Stirbinskis said.

“With the transition to systematic drill testing of porphyry targets, we expect to continue to intercept the later stage veins and improve our understanding of their influence and contribution to the Chuscal story,” he added.

Now that Los Cerros has confirmed porphyry targets, it will aim to begin targeted porphyry drilling once a rig arrives on site.

The explorer’s own drill rig is in the final stages of commissioning and is expected to be ready to drill within days.

Company shares are trading flat at 13 cents in early morning trade.
