With more than seven million users moving through HotCopper forums every year, there’s always bound to be some fireside chats – and some companies and stocks definitely shaped as more discussed than others in CY25.

Listen to the HotCopper podcast for in-depth discussions and insights on all the biggest headlines from throughout the week. On Spotify, Apple, and more.

It may have largely been a quieter year for Mesoblast, but the Australian regenerative medicine company still drew in as many as 27,645 comments in threads across HotCopper these last twelve months as eager investors watched on.

Perhaps it speaks to just how popular Mesoblast is (it’s appeared in our end-of-year Most Watched and Most Discussed columns every year I’ve done them) is that it keeps it staying power even after slipping -7.1% YTD.

It was nearly caught by number two this year, though, with Larvotto Resources gathering followers at a growing rate after its many CY25 moves.

Larvotto saw plenty of action, including with its +121% valuation. Some of that came from the antimony-gold explorer getting key fieldwork done at its Hillgrove flagship, though excitement also loomed when the Oz company fielded a $1.40/sh takeover offer in October. (It rejected the deal at the time.)

And, Liontown rounded out the podium spots for CY25, eking out a late surge on the lithium revival spiking in October and November. LTR has long been a favourite on the forums, and it’s +203% advance YTD can have only helped, too.

Close behind were popular stocks like Invictus Energy – which likely fielded most of its comments around the time it landed something close to Qatari royal backing – as well as DroneShield and the renamed PLS Group.

Racura Oncology, which just rebranded from “Race,” and Brainchip Holdings were also heavily discussed across the last twelve months.

Here’s the stocks that got chins wagging on HotCopper the most:

  1. Mesoblast (ASX:MSB)
  2. Larvotto Resources (ASX:LRV)
  3. Liontown (ASX:LTR)
  4. Invictus Energy (ASX:IVZ)
  5. PLS Group (ASX:PLS), formerly “Pilbara Minerals”
  6. DroneShield (ASX:DRO)
  7. Brainchip Holdings (ASX:BRN)
  8. Racura Oncology (ASX:RAC), formerly “Race Oncology”
  9. Botanix Pharmaceuticals (ASX:BOT)
  10. Imugene (ASX:IMU)

Looking back twelve months, it’s fascinating to see what stocks were still drawing conversations on the forums in December 2024.

On my trending list written up this time last year, Zip Co was the clear standout but has completely disappeared now. So too BPH Energy, Sayona Mining, and Spenda, though the last of those is the least surprising really.

Meanwhile, Mesoblast leaped from sixth all the way up to first and forum darlings like Liontown, PLS Group, Brainchip, and Invictus all kept similar spots. Imugene slipped the most, sagging from third to tenth.

There was also plenty of crossover with the year’s Most Watched stocks.
