Metal Hawk (MHK) has announced there is potential to find additional nickel sulphides at depth at its Berehaven Nickel Project in WA.
Three reverse circulation holes were drilled for a total of 485 metres at the Commodore Nickel Prospect. Recent assay results intersected one metre at 5.89 per cent nickel.
The zone of highly weathered ultramafic rock is similar in grade, but broader in width than the weathered gossanous material intersected in discovery hole. This returned nine metres at 0.31 per cent nickel, 185 parts per million (ppm) copper, 18 parts per billion (ppb) platinum and 34ppb palladium above the transitional massive sulphide zone from 144 metres to 145 metres, grading 5.89 per cent nickel.
Managing Director Will Belbin said: “The geochemistry from the intensely weathered ultramafic zone intersected in BVNC003 indicates that there is a very good chance we will see additional nickel sulphides at depth.
“These results confirm that the nickel sulphide mineralisation at Commodore is open and untested along strike and at depth.
“We will be following up these results shortly with deeper drilling and downhole EM as we progress this exciting new discovery.”
Diamond drilling is scheduled to begin on October 8, which will follow up the massive nickel sulphide discovery at Commodore, and investigate a conductive source detected in downhole and moving loop electromagnetic surveys.
Staged reverse circulation drilling will also commence shortly, testing the zone of massive sulphides, progressively exploring the target ultramafic stratigraphy at Commodore.
Metal Hawk shares were down 2.75 per cent, trading at 53 cents at 11:58 am AEDT.
