- RC drilling completed at Thylacine south zone
- Testing high-grade Numbat lode and associated shear zone
- Resplit assays return high-grade gold from Numbat shear
- Results support new style of shear-hosted, high-grade gold mineralisation at Leinster South
Metal Hawk (ASX: MHK) has identified upside with the now completed RC drilling at the Thylacine south zone within the Leinster South project in WA.
Initial assay results have been received from 1.0m sampling of hole 26LSRC075, returning a high-grade gold intersection of 4.0m at 12.5 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 43m, including 2.0m at 23.0 g/t from 44m.
MD Will Belbin told shareholders that importantly, that intercept is interpreted to represent a new style of shear-hosted gold mineralisation at Leinster South, from foliated mafic rocks with no quartz veining.
“We have now successfully completed the first follow-up drilling at Numbat, testing the high-grade quartz lode and the shear zone,” he said.
“The new high-grade results from hole 26LSRC075 support our view that the Numbat lode is associated with a significant broader mineralised system at Thylacine and importantly, the intersection is interpreted to represent a new, shear-hosted style of mineralisation at Leinster South.”
The completed RC program comprised 10 RC holes for 1,642m, and was designed to test the high-grade Numbat lode and associated shear zone.
Drilling targeted along strike and down dip of the discovery intercept of 9.0m at 12.3 g/t from 70m, including 5.0m at 20.7 g/t Au from 72m.
RC samples have been submitted to the laboratory with assay results expected in approximately six weeks.
Plans are underway for diamond drilling to commence at the Thylacine south zone in November
following receipt of assays.
“Diamond drilling in November will give us oriented core through the Numbat lode and the host shear, which is critical to understanding the orientation of the high-grade shoots and how far this system extends. In the meantime, we look forward to reporting new RC results over the coming weeks,” Mr Belbin said.
“RC drilling has established high-grade gold in both the Numbat quartz lode and the associated shear, but RC chips cannot show the orientation of the structures that control it. D
“Diamond drilling will provide oriented core through the Numbat lode and shear zone to determine the orientation and geometry of the high-grade mineralisation, including its interpreted plunge and the true width of mineralised intervals.
“Core will also allow detailed structural and petrographic study of the shear-hosted gold and will test the system below the depth of the RC drilling. This information will be used to target follow-up drilling.”
MHK was steady at 11.0¢ with a Mkt cap of $13.57M prior to markets opening.
