Online furniture retailer MyDeal (MYD) has launched native mobile applications for both iOS and Android devices to improve customer experience and retention.

MyDeal says the apps will provide 883,000 active customers with more seamless mobile access to its range of six million home and lifestyle products.

App users are set to enjoy mobile-specific features and additional offers, including discount coupons and push notifications for deals, shop-by-room navigation, cross sharing to social media apps, seamless checkout management and a “shop the look” visual search functionality.

MyDeal Founder and CEO Sean Senvirtne said the apps form a key part of the company’s growth strategy to improve customer conversion and retention rates.

“Operating a leading online retail marketplace for home and lifestyle products, we understand that providing a seamless customer experience is vital, no matter how users choose to access our platform,” Sean said.

“While our website is already mobile-optimised and personalised to each user, we know that customers use the website differently when they’re accessing it through mobile devices.

“The launch of the native mobile apps reduces customer friction on the platform as it allows those using mobile channels to more effectively access additional features and interact and compare prices across our vast product range faster, before ultimately purchasing in a seamless way.”

At present, MYD attracts average monthly website traffic of around 6.8 million visits, with 75 per cent of site access occurring via a smartphone or tablet.

The company expects its latest native apps to increase traffic, ensuring faster performance, high reliability and extra mobile-specific functionality.

Off the back of the announcement, MyDeal shares were trading 2.94 per cent higher at 70 cents at 12:19 pm AEST.
