PMET Resources (ASX:PMT) has hit a major milestone at the Shaakichiuwaanaan lithium project in Quebec with the lodging of the environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA). The ESIA is a critical regulatory requirement, and alongside the positive CV5 lithium-only feasibility study delivered in late CY25, forms the dual pillars of the government’s mine authorisation process.

PMET’s CEO and president, Ken Brinsden, said together these documents detail the technical viability, environmental safeguards and social integration of the proposed hybrid open-pit and underground mine.

“Moving from discovery to a formal ESIA submission and a completed feasibility study in roughly four years is a testament to the quality and scale of Shaakichiuwaanaan and the dedication of our team,” Mr Brinsden explained.

“Congratulations to our team and external advisors for their contributions to our premier project, creating a strong platform for our continuing engagement with the Cree and regulators as our project continues down the development pipeline.”

The ESIA is based on a comprehensive multidisciplinary analysis covering items such as environmental baseline studies, indigenous consultation and engagement and climate and greenhouse gas considerations.

Following submission of the ESIA, the federal gov’t will initiate a public review period to invite comments from communities, regulators and project stakeholders.

In late CY25, the company released a positive lithium-only feasibility study and declared a maiden mineral reserve of 84.3M tonnes at 1.26% lithium oxide.

The study outlined a competitive and globally significant high-grade lithium project targeting up to 800K tonnes per annum spodumene concentrate using a simple dense media separation-only process flowsheet.

PMT is steady at 47¢ before open Thursday morning.
