Base and precious metals explorer and developer Polarx Ltd (ASX:PXX) has reported the discovery of thick zones of copper-bearing massive sulphide mineralisation through drilling work at its Caribou Dome copper project in Alaska.
The key intersections from this core drilling included 8.3 metres in one hole and 12.65 metres in another, revealing thick zones of mineralisation.
This discovery was found beneath another hole drilled in 2021, which had intercepted 19.1 metres at 7.0 percent copper and 11.2 grams per tonne silver, and 9.8 metres at 6.8 percent copper and 7.8 grams per tonne silver.
Deeper drilling is now planned to further delineate the mineralisation, with the overall program aiming to extend known depth and continuity in the high-grade zone, to boost planning for underground mining at Caribou Dome in the future.
Samples from the current drill program with also be delivered for metallurgical testing.
Caribou Dome is located 250 kilometres northeast of Anchorage – as well as being adjacent to Polarx’s Stellar project – and holds a mineral resource estimate of 7.2 million tonnes at 3.1 percent copper and 6.5 grams per tonne silver.
Polarx has been trading at 1.4 cents.
