Red Sky Energy (ROG) has completed slickline operations at the Killanoola Oil Project in South Australia’s Penola Trough.

A slickline is a metal rope used to lower tools into a well bore to detect any potential obstructions.

The intervention showed the bore at SE-1 to be clear, paving the way for wireline perforation activities to begin on 16 metres of identified potential pay.

If successful, ROG said this work could significantly increase production rates at the well.

The company’s managing director, Andrew Knox, commented on the recent slickline operations.

“We are pleased that the slickline intervention was effective and successful with the well bore at Killanoola SE-1 clear and unencumbered,” he said.

“We can now move to installing a wellhead, then proceeding with perforation and testing of the well as planned.”

Looking ahead, ROG is planning to re-enter and perforate the well for the first time.
