Sarytogan Graphite (SGA) has reported that the first drilling results from the Sarytogan graphite deposit in central Kazakhstan have exceeded its expectations.

The company recovered thick, high-grade graphite intercepts from its first seven diamond drill holes from the Central Graphite Zone.

Results from the program included 62 metres at 27.5 per cent total graphitic carbon (TGC) from surface, including 5.7 metres at 40.1 per cent TGC.

Further intercepts included 30.5 metres at 34.1 per cent TGC from surface, including 20 metres at 36 per cent TGC.

“Sarytogan is thrilled with this first round of drilling results that have exceeded expectations with broad intercepts of high-grade graphite mineralisation in the Central Graphite Zone,” Managing Director Sean Gregory said.

“These outstanding results have the potential to significantly expand the already giant mineral resource.”

Drilling is still ongoing to the north-east of the Central Graphite Zone, outside of the current 209 million tonnes at 28.5 per cent TGC inferred mineral resource.

The company has drilled 13 holes for 1297 metres to date from an ongoing program of 4000 metres, with results from six holes still pending.

Sarytogan said its next steps at the project will involve ongoing diamond drilling, metallurgical testwork, and revising its mineral resource in the first quarter of 2023.

Sarytogan Graphite shares were up 12.6 per cent to trade at 49 cents at 10:51 am AEST.
