Saunders International (SND) has been awarded a contract for a new 60 mega litre water reservoir for Sydney Water in Liverpool, New South Wales.

The design and construction contract is valued at roughly $15 million and is aimed at delivering new drinking water services.

“We look forward to working closely with Sydney Water to deliver new drinking water services to cater for growth in Sydney’s south west,” Saunders CEO and Managing Director Mark Benson said.

Sydney Water is planning new drinking water services to cater for future development in the Austral, Leppington and Leppington North areas within Sydney’s south west.

Part of its plans include water trunk mains to be laid within the road reserve by the year 2025.

Within Cecil Hills and Cecil Park, a new reservoir and pumping station will be built by 2022. This is alongside a new pressure transfer main to transfer supply from the Liverpool reservoir to the existing Cecil Park reservoir via Western Sydney Parklands.

“The Saunders Group is pleased that this contract will be delivered through both our Mechanical Infrastructure and Civil Infrastructure groups,” Mark added.

Saunders contracted works will include detailed design, civil foundation and construction of a new welded steel reservoir which has an 80 metre diameter and is 13 metres high.

Additionally, works will include electrical and instrumentation and commissioning.

The company will mobilise equipment to the site during this quarter and works will continue throughout the rest of 2020.

Saunders is up 7.5 per cent and shares are trading for 43 cents each at market close.
