Sayona Mining (SYA) has produced the first saleable lithium concentrate from its North American Lithium operation in Quebec, Canada.

The company has produced around 1200 tonnes of lithium concentrate since production began earlier this month.

Sayona said the volumes achieved so far demonstrated the ability to produce a commercial concentrate as commissioning activities continued.

Sayona’s Managing Director, Brett Lynch, said the production of the first saleable concentrate was a major milestone for the NAL operation’s restart, reflecting the improvements made to enhance production.

The project restart is on schedule, according to the company, with the first lithium shipment pitted for July this year.

Sayona is targeting total production of between 85,000 tonnes and 115,000 tonnes during the first half of the 2024 financial year.

Over at the company’s sub-project, the Crushed Ore Storage Dome, engineering is progressing, with close expediting of engineering deliverables implemented.

SYA shares are down 1.2 per cent, trading at 22 cents at 12:54 pm AEDT.
