- Spark is New Zealand’s largest telco company and has maintained an ongoing contract with Norwood since December 2018
- Essentially, Norwood’s visual voicemail solution allows users to listen or read their voicemail messages, like they would read a text, simply through an app
- Spark is now migrating all existing voicemail users over to its new voicemail platform
- Once this phase has been completed, the visual voicemail service will be available to Spark’s mobile customer base
- Company shares are trading 10 per cent higher at 3.3 cents
Telecommunications provider Norwood Systems (NOR) has announced Spark NZ has launched its on-premises visual voicemail solution.
The voicemail solution was developed by Norwood and provides a modern voicemail interface for users to visually browse and manage voicemail messages through an app.
Traditionally, accessing voicemails involved dialling digit codes, which is time-consuming and tedious. To combat this, Norwood’s solution enables users to listen or read their voicemail messages like they would read a text.
“Delivering this enhancement for our customers has been a real team effort with Norwood partnering strongly with us to ensure the app development process ran smoothly and efficiently,” Spark Product Director Tessa Tierney said.
The visual voicemail solution is now integrated into Spark’s virtualised network and compute infrastructure.
Pleasingly, Norwood can now offer its geo-redundant, on-premises solution to other service providers which ensures user access even if the service becomes unavailable at a site.
The solution also scales horizontally, meaning additional data centres can be added for a growing customer base. Currently, the solution can scale up to 100 million users or more.
Spark is New Zealand’s largest telecommunication and digital services company whom Norwood has an ongoing maintenance contract with to provide upgrades and enhancements to the visual voicemail service.
Norwood and Spark NZ first entered a contract in December 2018, which was extended in January this year. The extended contract allowed Norwood to provide its World Voicemail software to Spark’s subscribers.
“We continue to demonstrate with our ongoing collaboration with Spark that Norwood can consistently deliver advanced, industrially-scalable and carrier-grade services that a telco-operator can rely on,” Norwood CEO and Founder Paul Ostergaard said.
Spark is now migrating all existing voicemail users over to its new voicemail platform. The rollout is expected to take place in the next three months. Once the migration phase has been completed, the visual voicemail service will be available to Spark’s mobile customer base.
Company shares are up 10 per cent at 3.3 cents each in early morning trade.
