Strategic Elements (SOR) has signed an agreement with global software industrial company Honeywell through its automation and robotics company Stealth Technologies.

The agreement is to progress the commercialisation of autonomous security vehicles (ASVs) for perimeter security.

The Stealth ASV autonomously navigates pre-defined missions to autonomously test critical perimeter intrusion detection systems (PIDS) and conduct surveillance which is required multiple times a day and is currently only possible through physical interaction between security personnel and PIDS.

Further, it has robotic components that simulate cutting or climbing the secure perimeter fence that autonomously tests photoelectric beams, microphonic and fibre-optic fence sensors, buried electromagnetic cables and microwave beams.

Under the two-year agreement, Stealth will engage exclusively with Honeywell for customers in the correctional, telecommunications and defence industries in Australia, New Zealand and other countries as agreed.

Meanwhile, Honeywell will be responsible for identifying, engaging and maintaining customer relationships to facilitate ASV pilot deployments.

The ASV pilot deployment program will be conducted to establish a supportive engagement for customers to deploy an ASV in their organisations and obtain hands-on insights into perimeter security benefits of robotic automation and autonomous vehicles.

Further, the deployments will validate perimeter security use cases and explore the most effective ways of introducing robotics and autonomous vehicles and direct customer feedback into engineering.

The company said background IP and IP rights generated will be owned by the originating party, and both parties will agree a fee structure based on the direct operational costs and an additional amount having regard to the relevant ASV pilot deployment.

According to the company, the ASV has successfully achieved thousands of operational PIDS tests in previous live trials at a correctional facility.

Shares in Strategic Elements are trading 15.2 per cent higher at 19 cents at 11:00 am AEST.
