Superior Resources (SPQ) has kicked off the next round of drilling at its Bottletree prospect, within its Greenvale project in North Queensland.

Following two diamond drilling programs in 2018 and 2021, SPQ has collared the first drill hole in its next eight-hole diamond drilling program.

This round of work is targeting the core zones of multiple copper-gold-molybdenum porphyry intrusions.

The first drill hole has been collared to the west of a hole completed in the 2021 program which intersected 632 metres of copper mineralisation.

In addition to testing high-priority porphyry core targets, this round of drilling will also test extensive near-surface copper mineralisation that appear to be associated with several interpreted buried porphyry intrusions.

Superior’s Managing Director, Peter Hwang, said this is the company’s “most anticipated and exciting program” and expects a few “exciting months” ahead.

“Our step-by-step approach to this program focuses initially on a compelling and strong central zone of copper-gold-molybdenum soil anomalism, which is supported by a newly remodelled large chargeability anomaly, airborne magnetics and satellite imagery interpreted intrusion centres.

“All of this sits down-dip and behind the massive 632 metres of copper mineralisation returned from BTDD004.

“However, the chargeability anomaly is large and extends for about 1 kilometre, so apart from having very large size potential, we do have a lot of ground to cover,” he explained.

At the same time, Superior is extending its 2021 multi-element soil geochemistry program westwards due to indications that porphyry mineralisation extends significantly further than the 1.5-kilometre soil copper zone that originally defined Bottletree.

The company also plans to extend an induced polarisation survey to cover this expanded area.

Company shares were up 9.09 per cent, trading at 3.6 cents at 11:41 am AEST.
