Victoria has reported three new locally acquired coronavirus cases, taking the total number of cases in the state to 54.

The new cases reported this morning are in addition to those recorded on Monday, which included six flagged by the government at its daily COVID-19 press conference yesterday.

The state recorded 42,699 test results and 20,484 vaccinations.

There are now 329 exposure sites, including the South Melbourne ALDI, the Woolworths at Heidelberg and several sites in Brimbank Shopping Centre which were added last night.

With the news that coronavirus has been found in aged care, the situation is extremely concerning.

Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton and Acting Premier James Merlino have stressed all options are being considered for the state’s fourth lockdown in 15 months.

“We have to prepare for anything, we don’t know what will unfold in coming days,” Professor Sutton said.

Mr Merlino said the next few days will be critical.

“The next few days are going to be critically important and that includes the possibility that this outbreak will get worse before it gets better,” he said.
