With more than seven million users on the HotCopper forums, every discussion and speculation can move Australian markets, which is why getting out in front of those trends is so important for any trader worth their salt.

Listen to the HotCopper podcast for in-depth discussions and insights on all the biggest headlines from throughout the week. On Spotify, Apple, and more.

In this daily HotCopper Trends column, we break down the top three stocks talked about on any given trade day, and why they’ve drawn a daily focus.

Gold, antimony, and critical minerals explorer Nova Minerals (ASX:NVA) and its US$43.4 million awarded from the U.S. Department of War have been top-trending on HotCopper forums today, and by a fair distance.

The numbers, both for the windfall deal and regarding its +35% price action through Wednesday, were best encapsulated by “donkey” on HotCopper: “Holy shit?”

While the company never hit the lofty $1 hopes some users had shared this morning, the explorer certainly walks away from this looking interesting – the deal now bankrolls the first stage of a fully domestic supply chain to “extract and refine antimony” at the Estelle Project in Alaska, Nova explained.

At time of writing, NVA shares have been 59.5c each.

Elsewhere, Tambourah Metals (ASX:TMB) had Nova beat price-wise, too.

This explorer, which deals in gold and critical minerals, has been trending on the forums following a whopping +157% pop today. (And I can only imagine I’ll be talking about this stock more in my HotList column Friday, too).

Tambourah’s explosive price action came after it reported several high-grade results at its fully-owned Beatty Park South project near Meekatharra today.

TMB has been selling at 10.5cps and is up around +400% YTD; for anyone who bought into the company 12 months ago, returns are above +208%.

And finally, Black Cat Syndicate (ASX:BC8) rounds out the top three most-discussed companies on the forums today, with a similar – if slightly less spectacular – set of hits from its Paulsens project. The company is working towards both resource growth and “optimising production areas” at its drilling sites.

In a wider view, the ASX has been down -0.27% today.
