Azure Minerals (AZS) has restarted diamond drilling at the Andover Nickel-Copper Project in Western Australia.

Up to 30,000 metres of diamond drilling will be completed to define a mineral resource at the VC-07 conductor.

Previous work at the VC-07 target has consisted of fixed loop electromagnetic surveying, diamond drilling, and downhole electromagnetic surveying.

This diamond drilling intersected broad zones of significant nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation with grades peaking at 2.85 per cent nickel and 1.14 per cent copper.

It is believed VC-07 represents a continuous body of bedrock-hosted sulphide mineralisation extending more than 1050 metres and over 200 metres down dip.

Azure believes this highlights the target to represent a substantial nickel-copper sulphide deposit.

Drilling will also test the VC-23 conductor, where historical drilling returned two metres at 2.1 per cent nickel and 0.44 per cent copper.

The first two rigs are on-site and drilling, with a third expected to arrive in mid-January.

“Having confirmed a significant nickel-copper discovery at Andover, the Board of Azure is transitioning the company’s focus from exploration of the VC-07 mineralised body to resource definition,” Managing Director Tony Rovira commented.

“While most of the planned drilling will focus on the VC-07 conductor, the Andover property is a target-rich environment for further nickel and copper sulphide discoveries,” he said.

“Geophysical surveying has identified numerous conductors indicative of bedrock-hosted sulphide mineralisation and drilling of the first of these prospective targets, VC-23, has commenced,” he added.

Azure is down 4.63 per cent on the market and shares are trading at 51.5 cents at 12:46 pm AEDT.
