E79 Gold Mines (E79) has commenced a 2500-metre reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at its Laverton South gold project in Western Australia (WA).

The company will be testing depth extensions at the Target 3 area within the project, where aircore drilling recently intersected multiple zones of gold mineralisation.

This resulted in the definition of a 2600-metre-long zone of anomalous gold that sits under a regional paleochannel.

E79 CEO Ned Summerhayes said the company planned to drill test under the Southern, Central and Western zones with a series of RC holes.

“This has been a systematic and methodical process to define this prospect with
aircore drilling, and we are now moving into the potential discovery phase with RC
drilling,” Mr Summerhayes said.

The Southern zone was newly defined from the aircore drilling, with one result intersecting four metres at 3.2 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and three metres at 1.55 g/t gold.

E79 said it expected drilling to wrap up by the end of this year, with results anticipated in the March quarter of 2023.

Shares in E79 were up 3.57 per cent to 14.5 cents at 11:18 am AEDT.
