Red Mountain Mining (ASX:RMX) now has a baseline for its planned RC drilling campaign, with recent bench testing at the Armidale Antimony-Gold Project in New South Wales achieving a composite concentrate grade of 51.8% antimony (Sb) with an 85% metal recovery relative to the head grade.

These 51.8% antimony concentrate recorded grade marks an increase over standard commercial grades, which typically range between 30–40%.

The pilot study, run by Auralia Metallurgy using a Basil Latino flotation machine, successfully trialled a coarse crush over 14 minutes of flotation time, yielding a 29.7% mass pull, Red Mountain announced. The composite concentrate contained 197ppm arsenic, indicating low concentrations of the deleterious element.

This composite concentrate can be used as feedstock for pyrometallurgical processing to produce saleable antimony metal, independent consulting metallurgist Rob Riggir has suggested, as they keep testing.

The sample also returned a measured head grade of 19.9% Sb and 0.25ppm gold. This grade aligns with prior mineralised rock chip grab samples from the prospect, which have yielded up to 39.3% Sb and 1.09ppm Au. Geochemical analysis showed a below-detection result of under 0.01% As for the sample.

The ~20-kilogram bulk sample used for these recent metallurgical testings was collected from shallow historical surface pits at Oaky Creek North.

Red Mountain told shareholders it was “pleased” with the results that had already been returned in Week 22, and would now be heading straight into the planned RC drilling now that it’s been approved by regulators.

RMX is up +6.7%, to 1.6cps in Monday morning trade.
