Structural Monitoring Systems (ASX:SMN) has reported troubled aviation giant Boeing has completed tests using SMN’s Aft Pressure Bulkhead (APB) sensors.

The tests were described by SMN as part of an ongoing certification process. The APB is the rear component of a pressure seal in all aircraft and comprises the walls of an aircraft.

Notably, Boeing has before been slammed with allegations it overlooked misaligned bulkheads in its own planes built by Spirit, a company Boeing has since acquired.

Perhaps, to that end, the company’s interest was piqued by SMN’s APB sensors.

“Achieving today’s milestone confirms the confidence we have been expressing in both the process and the outcome, even though we might have wished for it to have been achieved earlier,” SMN CEO Ross Love said.

“It significantly increases the confidence with which we can continue our engagement with important potential customers -along with our currently contracted customer Delta Air Lines – for our Aft Pressure Bulkhead application and our confidence to pursue new applications, many of which we are already progressing.”

The tests have also closed off multiple issues Boeing flagged back in February, SMN reported on Monday.

Members of the US aviation regulator will attend an event on August 12 wherein SMN will demonstrate capabilities.

SMN last traded at 73.5cps.
